Is MetaWars still active in 2026?

MetaWars should be treated as unverified or inactive unless the team publishes new, independently verifiable development evidence. The project did progress beyond the launch promises in this 2021 press release: it released several downloadable Windows demos, culminating in Game Demo V4 on 27 December 2023. Its official announcement channel continued posting work-in-progress clips until 5 March 2024. However, Boxmining could not find a later official development update as of 13 August 2026, and neither metawars.gg nor app.metawars.gg established a working HTTPS connection during our review.

That does not prove the project has been formally abandoned. A dormant social channel or broken domain can have other causes. It does mean the old article's language about an imminent adventure game, NFT staking and a growing universe is no longer a reliable description of a currently supported product.

What MetaWars actually delivered

The 2021 article was written before the promised adventure game and NFT-staking features were due. Later project records show a narrower but real sequence of public demos:

A closed technical demo was announced for March 2023.
Game Demo V2 introduced a social hub and further combat development in mid-2023.
Game Demo V3 was promoted in October 2023.
Game Demo V4 launched in December 2023 as a downloadable third-person survival experience in which players fought waves of robotic enemies.
Early-2024 clips showed monster abilities, loot design and a resource-acquisition system described as in progress.

These demos are evidence of development, but they are not evidence that the complete multiplayer strategy economy described at launch was finished. The V4 announcement itself warned that the demo was not final gameplay and was subject to change. With the download domain unavailable, Boxmining also cannot recommend obtaining an old installer from an unofficial mirror.

WARS token status and liquidity

The original WARS contract still exists on BNB Smart Chain. On 13 August 2026, DEX Screener returned two material PancakeSwap pools. The larger WARS/BUSD pool showed approximately $9,980 of liquidity and only about $0.46 in 24-hour volume; the WARS/WBNB pool had roughly $191 of liquidity and similar negligible activity. The quoted price was around $0.000047, implying a fully diluted value near $71,000 if all 1.5 billion tokens were counted.

Those numbers are a snapshot, not a valuation. In a pool this thin, the displayed price can be set by a tiny trade, large orders may suffer extreme slippage, and a seller may not be able to exit near the quoted price. The former CoinGecko page now redirects to its homepage and the public coin API returns no MetaWars record. CoinMarketCap still displays WARS but reports no available 24-hour volume or circulating-supply figure. None of these trackers verifies that the game, staking dapp or token utility is currently maintained.

The $GAM reward token mentioned in the archived release should also be treated as a legacy asset. We could not verify a supported current utility, active official market or redemption process for GAM. Do not assume that holding WARS, GAM or a MetaWars NFT gives ownership in a company, a claim on launch proceeds or a right to a refund.

MetaWars holder safety checklist

Verify the full WARS contract address on BscScan; tickers and token names can be copied by anyone.
Do not connect a wallet to a revived “MetaWars” domain, migration portal or staking page unless it is announced through multiple authenticated project channels and its contracts can be independently checked.
Do not download Game Demo V4 from an unofficial file host. An old executable can be repackaged with wallet-stealing malware.
Check real pool reserves, recent transactions and expected slippage before attempting any swap. A displayed portfolio price does not establish that buyers exist.
Revoke obsolete approvals previously granted to the MetaWars dapp or staking contracts if they are no longer needed.
Treat unsolicited recovery, migration and support messages as scams. Never disclose a seed phrase or private key.

The Legacy So Far

MetaWars released their pre-launch NFT auction from the 21st to the 27th of October, which allowed buyers to purchase valuable in-game assets and supplies. The event garnered huge success, nearing a total of 1,000 bids by the end of the auction.

The project continued their impressive feats on the day of their launch on the 27th of October, with an initial listing price of $0.008 on PancakeSwap skyrocketing over 100x.

The staking pool and dapp also went live recently for the community to stake $WARS tokens. Players, in turn, earn $GAM tokens, an in-game utility token that will play a vital role in the MetaWars universe.

Launch Highlights

The pre-launch NFT auction successfully obtained close to 1,000 bids and raised a total of 2,000 BNB.

MetaWars’ $WARS tokens were sold out in a flash on all three launchpads — Polylauncher, GameFi and Red Kite — within minutes.

The very first MetaWars game trailer and demo was released to the public in order to show a glimpse of the immersive gameplay — interested parties can view the clip here.

Staking of $WARS and $WARS-BUSD LP went live on MetaWars’ dapp.

MetaWars’ Discord server remains active with more than 22,000 members to date and an invitation contest is currently underway that will enable participants with the most invites to earn limited in-game asset NFTs.

Future Plans

Following a hugely successful launch, MetaWars is currently working on its adventure game, with plans to release it later this month. The NFT staking feature is also currently in the works and will be announced to the public in the near future.

Do WARS or MetaWars NFTs give holders a refund claim?
