Is holoride still active in 2026?
holoride's technology and brand continue under a new corporate group, but the original holoride GmbH went through insolvency proceedings in 2024. This distinction matters for customers, creditors and RIDE holders: the operating business was restructured, while the blockchain token continued trading independently on public networks.
| Milestone | What happened |
|---|---|
| November 2021 | RIDE launched on the Maiar Launchpad on Elrond, the network now called MultiversX. |
| November 2022 | holoride commercially launched its motion-synchronized VR platform for selected holoride-ready Audi vehicles. |
| January 2023 | A retrofit product expanded compatibility beyond supported Audi models. |
| October 2023 | holoride launched a bridge between MultiversX RIDE and an ERC-20 representation on Ethereum. |
| April–July 2024 | holoride GmbH entered preliminary insolvency administration; German reporting says formal proceedings opened on 1 July 2024 under Munich court case 1501 IN 1302/24. |
| September 2024 | The company announced that the former GmbH's intellectual property had transferred to newly established Holoride Technologies Group Pte. Ltd. in Singapore. The core team moved to holoride technologies Europe GmbH in Munich. |
| December 2024 | Fuel Ventures Asia announced an investment supporting the new group's B2B, multi-device and Asia-focused strategy. |
| 2026 review | The website, RIDE dApp and German operating-company imprint remain online, but the public newsroom has no newer company announcement than December 2024. |
What happened in the holoride insolvency?
Public shareholder Terranet said on 22 April 2024 that it would not invest more and that holoride's long-term liquidity was not secured. It described the preliminary procedure as an attempt to find new owners or investors or, failing that, liquidate the business. German trade publication GamesWirtschaft later reported that formal insolvency proceedings opened on 1 July because of inability to pay and over-indebtedness.
holoride's September relaunch announcement says all intellectual property of the former holoride GmbH transferred to a new Singapore holding company. A newly registered Munich entity, holoride technologies Europe GmbH, now appears in the site's imprint, with Nils Wollny as managing director. The group shifted from selling a narrowly configured consumer VR package toward licensing its spatial-computing stack to businesses in mobility, technology, entertainment and tourism.
A transfer of IP and team does not mean the new entities automatically assumed every obligation of the insolvent company. Anyone with an old hardware order, subscription, refund, employment, investment or creditor claim should rely on the applicable contract and insolvency records rather than assuming the current website operator is the same debtor.
Did the holoride VR product ever launch?
Yes. The archived 2022 article was written before commercial release. Audi and holoride launched the Pioneers' Pack for selected MIB 3-equipped Audi vehicles in Germany in November 2022, followed by a retrofit product in the United States in January 2023. The setup used the HTC VIVE Flow, a controller, an internet connection and motion data from the vehicle.
The current site still describes spatial apps, a Spatial Experience SDK and a Spatial Perception Engine, but its business-facing product page emphasizes custom development and licensing. The old shop subdomain did not resolve during this review, while the FAQ still refers to consumer packs, subscriptions and availability in Germany, Austria and the United States. Treat those FAQ details as potentially stale: confirm current hardware, app, country, vehicle and subscription support before buying used equipment or paying a third party.
holoride is designed for seated, belted back-seat passengers. Its own FAQ says motion synchronization may help reduce signs of motion sickness but does not eliminate nausea; users should remove the headset immediately if unwell. It is not a driver display.
What is the current status of the RIDE token?
RIDE remains a transferable crypto asset with a maximum supply of one billion tokens. The original MultiversX token identifier is RIDE-7d18e9. The bridged Ethereum contract is 0xf97e2a78f1f3d1fd438ff7cc3bb7de01e5945b83. The official RIDE dApp is still online, but using a bridge or staking interface adds smart-contract, approval, liquidity and network risk.
Market liquidity is now extremely limited. CoinGecko's 12 August 2026 snapshot showed roughly 879.9 million RIDE circulating, a market capitalization near $114,000 and only about $249 of tracked 24-hour volume. It listed one non-stale xExchange pool and a stale Uniswap V2 market. RIDE traded near $0.00013, approximately 99.995% below CoinGecko's $2.50 all-time high from December 2021.
Those figures change continuously and small trades can distort a thin market. A displayed token balance or quoted price may not be realizable after slippage, fees and bridge costs. The old article's statement that Maiar Launchpad was the only place to obtain RIDE was true only around launch; Maiar Exchange was later renamed xExchange and RIDE was bridged to Ethereum.
Does RIDE represent equity in holoride?
No evidence in the reviewed token materials makes RIDE a share, creditor claim or ownership interest in holoride GmbH, the Singapore holding company or the current European operating company. It was marketed as a utility token for content, NFTs, rewards, governance and ecosystem transactions.
That separation is especially important after the restructuring. A business acquisition, investment or transfer of intellectual property does not guarantee token buybacks, exchange liquidity, product demand or recovery of RIDE's market price. Likewise, owning RIDE did not make a holder a creditor in the German insolvency unless a separate legal claim existed.
Which parts of the original RIDE plan were delivered?
- Delivered: RIDE launched on MultiversX; the consumer XR product launched; selected Audi integration and a retrofit option shipped; holoride-affiliated NFTs appeared; an Ethereum bridge and RIDE dApp launched.
- Time-limited or changed: the original MultiversX metastaking campaign ran only until June 2023, the initial 43-month token-release schedule ended in May 2025, and the business shifted toward B2B licensing and multiple device types.
- Not established as promised at scale: the reviewed public record does not demonstrate a broadly liquid content economy in which manufacturers, creators and passengers routinely transact, receive the proposed fee splits and govern the platform.
- Still a company claim: the relaunched group says RIDE can support rewards and data-based business cases for customers, but that statement is not evidence of current transaction volume or a legal right to revenue.
RIDE safety checklist
- Confirm whether a wallet or venue is using native MultiversX RIDE or bridged ERC-20 RIDE; never send one network's token to an incompatible address.
- Use links reached from holoride.com and verify the complete token identifier or contract. Ignore “recovery,” migration, airdrop and support messages that ask for a seed phrase.
- Check pool depth, price impact and minimum received before swapping. A market with hundreds of dollars in daily volume can be difficult or expensive to exit.
- Do not infer that an old exchange listing, staking article or FAQ is still current. The official FAQ itself describes a metastaking program that ended in June 2023.
- Review bridge contracts and allowances before connecting a valuable wallet, and revoke unused approvals afterward.
- Separate product enthusiasm from token value. A licensing agreement, new investor or working VR demo does not automatically create demand for RIDE.
Original January 2022 article (historical archive)
The original feature below is preserved substantially as published before holoride's commercial launch. Its launch status, company structure, blockchain naming, purchase routes and token-market assumptions are updated above.
Originally an initiative by the Autonomous Driving and Digital Business units in Audi to provide VR-like entertainment for passengers in cars in 2015, holoride had since spun off into its own in-car entertainment start-up in 2019. Their brand-new take on environmentally adaptive VR experiences, demonstrated in a moving car, made its debut at the famous Consumer Electronics Show of January that year.
Their inspiration comes from a huge market for in-car entertainment, which traditionally is focused only on the drivers’ experience in the form of audio media, such as music and podcasts. Anything more would be patently dangerous. There were occasionally allowances for AV devices built into dashboards and seats, but with the advent of mobile devices, the need for such in-built gadgets has become somewhat passé, and the focus is oriented ideally towards social interaction within the vehicle itself.
However, with the presence of ride-shares, public transport and even autonomous vehicles, the core philosophies behind the in-car entertainment market will need to evolve, there will come a greater need for distraction from the boring commute or the monotonous long-distance highway trip. What’s more, some might not be able to read, watch or play media while in a moving vehicle due to the onset of carsickness.

What is Holoride ($RIDE)?
Holoride aims to ‘turn vehicles into moving theme parks’ by combining the immersive technologies of Virtual Reality with the situational adaptability of Augmented Reality, users can experience what Co-founder and CEO of holoride Nils Wollny describes a ‘blended’ experience that moves and adapts according to the forces and movement of the vehicle, as well as terrain, weather and landmark data pulled from online maps. What the viewer experiences are then sights and sounds unique to every ride. It creates what it calls ‘elastic entertainment’ via Extended Reality.
Holoride has now brought the capabilities of the Elrond blockchain to add even more value to its potential to entertain, enthrall and elate. It seeks to use the Elrond network to ensure the integrity and transparency of usage data, a potential fair usage-time-based compensation model for all ecosystem partners, increased security and compliance with automotive standards as well as improved experience quality and personalization and rewards. Elrond’s main selling point for holoride is that compared to the Ethereum blockchain, it’s infrastructure eliminates computational waste, and therefore reduces, “gas prices” or computational energy expenditure and costs.

What is $RIDE?
And with the Elrond blockchain comes RIDE – holoride’s token released December 2021. RIDE forms the transactional basis of its NFT (non-fungible token)-based content ecosystem on Elrond. RIDE is designed to provide incentives for using holoride by providing additional benefits and enhanced user engagement. As Wollny stated in a press statement:
“As we look to expand across global markets, blockchain technology and NFTs help us scale while securing the integrity of our developer-centric and car manufacturer-agnostic approach.”
Holoride seeks to use RIDE to build a sustainable economy on its ecosystem, allowing manufacturers, content creators, brands and passengers to trade transparently with each other and participate in the governance of the holoride platform and its content.
As mentioned in its Litepaper, holoride seeks to use similar content strategies to the rest of the gaming industry. RIDE token holders will be able to purchase user subscriptions, digital items, upgrades, customisations and brand placements from holoride at a discount from their non-crypto price as well as access to special events and early access to content and rare collectables.

Holoride also says that content creators will be able to mint unique NFTs based on their experiences, which can then be traded within the network’s marketplace. Fundamentally, this creates a token out of the social trading aspect of holoride’s experiences. Essentially, it makes RIDE a form of literal social currency.
“As players get more involved, these purchases generate additional revenue. In addition, unique in-game currencies are often created for these purchases to add value through enhanced functionalities, enable a universally and globally accepted in-game payment standard, or enable special discounts if players pre-purchase a specific credit – just to name a few.”
The Litepaper goes on to say that holoride’s mission “is to make transit time more valuable for everyone. Through NFTs, we envision the highest level of personalization for users while offering a one-of-a-kind XR experience with compelling monetisation opportunities for our partners.”
Content creators and car manufacturers could also possibly receive RIDE as part of user engagement with NFTs via transaction fees. For example, in their Litepaper, a 5% split might be equally done between the original content creator, the car manufacturer the NFT was minted on and holoride itself. Holoride can also ensure via Elrond that balances can also be settled by burning RIDE and paying out the partners with Fiat currency.
Finally, a certain percentage of holoride’s income from revenue, Fiat purchases, smart contract royalties and many more will be used each month to purchase RIDE tokens from the open market and deposit them in the holoride treasury to fund the sustainable development of the ecosystem via grants and other incentives.

According to TechCrunch, Ride is currently being sold on Elrond’s Maiar Launchpad, currently the only way to get it. Holoride will initially circulate 130 million tokens, and there is a max supply of 1 billion. Two hundred million tokens were sold at $0.02 at a private sale to raise funds and another 50 million were sold publicly before the launch of the crypto, which constitutes only 5% of the total RIDE tokens. These rounds brought holoride additional funding.

The rest are reserved for members of the Ecosystem – developers, content creators, automotive manufacturers, mobility providers, operational supporters, or advisors and ambassadors, etc; the Community – early contributors to the project; a Treasury – for unexpected issues and finally the Team – who are holoride workers themselves.

Holoride’s technology is still some time away from launch, ostensibly within 2022. Even so, it’ll require a huge amount of capital locked in to sustain its rather expansive application of the Elrond blockchain to make business sense.
But whatever the outcome, valuable lessons might be learnt from how it combines decentralised, socially-motivated commerce with their take on the metaverse. Wollny is optimistic about how holoride can enable its users to create value out of it. As he tells TechCrunch:
“Now that everyone is all over the metaverse, cryptocurrencies and NFTs, the puzzle pieces might fit a little better. However, many things are still unsolved and the best is yet to come.”

Original FAQ (historical)
holoride is a VR-entertainment start-up firm that has created a VR platform that creates experiences combining Augmented Reality tech and is able to change and adapt along with the passenger’s ride or commute, how the vehicle moves and available terrain and weather data. The visuals moving with the vehicle’s forces actually reduces the usual motion sickness associated with VR
platform through the sale of extra content and upgrades. But it also wants transparency and for content creators to make, share and be compensated for content for the holoride platform too. So allowing itself and others to create NFTs and trading them using its online RIDE tokens is a fairly reasonable way to create a socially-driven, traceable economy around online content.
Via the Elrond blockchain’s Maiar platform. It currently accepts stablecoins. There will be a maximum supply of a billion tokens. 250 millions have already been sold, and 130 million more will be sold again in the near future. Frequently asked questions
Is holoride still operating in 2026?
The holoride brand, website and technology continue under a restructured group. The original holoride GmbH entered insolvency proceedings in 2024, after which its intellectual property transferred to a new Singapore holding company and its core team moved to a new Munich subsidiary.
Did holoride go bankrupt?
holoride GmbH entered preliminary insolvency administration in April 2024, and German reporting says formal proceedings opened on 1 July 2024 because of inability to pay and over-indebtedness. The technology and team were subsequently reorganized under new legal entities.
Did holoride ever launch its in-car VR product?
Yes. A consumer package launched for selected holoride-ready Audi vehicles in Germany in November 2022, and a retrofit product for other vehicles launched in the United States in January 2023.
Can consumers still buy a holoride VR pack?
The current website focuses on B2B technology licensing, and the old shop subdomain did not resolve during this review. Although the FAQ still describes consumer packs, buyers should confirm current sales, activation, app, subscription, vehicle and country support before purchasing any hardware.
What is the RIDE token?
RIDE is holoride's crypto utility token. It was designed for content, NFTs, rewards, governance and ecosystem payments. It is not documented as equity in holoride or an automatic claim on company revenue or insolvency recoveries.
What is the official RIDE token identifier?
Native MultiversX RIDE uses token identifier RIDE-7d18e9. The bridged Ethereum token uses contract 0xf97e2a78f1f3d1fd438ff7cc3bb7de01e5945b83. Always confirm the network as well as the identifier.
Is RIDE still traded?
Yes, but tracked liquidity was extremely thin in August 2026. CoinGecko showed about $249 in 24-hour volume and one non-stale xExchange pool, so even a modest order may face substantial slippage or may not execute near the quoted price.
Does RIDE ownership provide shares in holoride?
No reviewed token document gives RIDE holders shares in the former GmbH or the new corporate group. RIDE is a utility token, not documented company equity, debt or a creditor claim.
Can RIDE still be staked?
Do not rely on the old metastaking instructions: holoride's FAQ says that program ran only until June 2023. The RIDE dApp remains online, but users should confirm the current contract, rewards, lock period and withdrawal route before approving any staking transaction.
Does holoride eliminate motion sickness?
No. Motion-synchronized content is intended to reduce sensory conflict, but holoride's own FAQ says it does not eliminate nausea. The headset should be removed immediately if a passenger feels unwell, and the experience is for belted back-seat passengers.
