LimeWire LMWR airdrop status in 2026
The LimeWire waitlist and referral airdrop is completed. The leaderboard campaign ended on 2 May 2023, and LMWR went live on exchanges on 16 May 2023. LimeWire's claim instructions said eligible invite-campaign winners would be notified by email and could access the prize through the LimeWire account associated with their waitlist email.
Joining the old waitlist, sharing its referral URL or using an old ranking page no longer qualifies a user for that distribution. No general replacement LMWR airdrop was verified during this review. LimeWire has run later promotions and token-farming programmes, but each is a separate, time-limited campaign with its own terms.

What happened to the 2023 LimeWire airdrop?
The campaign ranked waitlist users by successful referrals. Its published reward structure offered 100,000 LMWR to the top referrer, 50,000 LMWR to ranks two through six, and 100 LMWR plus a LimeWire Original NFT to ranks seven through 4,000.
After the campaign, LimeWire told winners to sign in with the same email used for the waitlist. Invite winners received email instructions; eligible LimeWire Original NFT holders were credited through their LimeWire accounts. These were account-based launch distributions from 2023, not a public wallet claim that should be rediscovered through a third-party link years later.
What is LimeWire now?
LimeWire has changed direction more than once. The 2022 relaunch began as a music-focused NFT marketplace. In 2023 it expanded into generative AI, including the acquisition of BlueWillow. The current site presents an AI-powered file-sharing platform for uploading, editing, storing and transferring files.
LimeWire says LMWR is used as a payment and rewards currency in this ecosystem. Its token site also describes LimeWire Network, a decentralized file and object-storage network with LMWR-based payments, rewards and validator staking. The public roadmap lists developer SDK and S3 gateway access for the first half of 2026 and fuller decentralization for the second half; those are stated plans, not proof that every milestone is complete.
LMWR supply and multichain contracts
LMWR launched as an Ethereum ERC-20 with one billion tokens minted. LimeWire later ran burn programmes and reported a supply of 633,045,269 LMWR as of July 2024. It also bridged LMWR to BNB Smart Chain and Base.
Only use the contract for the selected network. Sending Ethereum LMWR to a deposit address that only supports BNB Smart Chain or Base can permanently lose the tokens. The three addresses in the table above are the explorer destinations linked from LimeWire's official tokenomics page.
How to verify LMWR safely
- Begin at lmwr.com for token information or limewire.com for the product.
- Select the intended chain and match its complete contract address.
- Confirm that an exchange supports both LMWR and the same deposit network before transferring.
- Send a small test amount before moving a larger balance.
- Review staking-pool contracts, lock periods and withdrawal conditions before approving tokens.
- Ignore messages claiming the 2023 leaderboard prize is waiting behind a new wallet-connect page.
- Never give a LimeWire password, recovery phrase or private key to a supposed prize-recovery agent.
LimeWire and LMWR risks
- Expired-campaign risk: the waitlist referral competition ended in 2023.
- Account-recovery risk: historical rewards were linked to a LimeWire account and email, making fake support messages plausible.
- Multichain risk: the same asset has different contracts on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Base.
- Bridge risk: cross-chain transfers depend on bridge contracts and operational infrastructure.
- Staking risk: smart-contract defects, lockups and reward changes can cause losses.
- Roadmap risk: planned decentralized-storage and governance milestones can be delayed or changed.
- Product-pivot risk: LimeWire has moved from NFTs to AI and file sharing, changing the context for token utility.
- Price risk: burns and new product uses do not guarantee higher demand or market value.
- Impersonation risk: the familiar brand makes fake giveaways and support pages easier to market.

What is LimeWire?
LimeWire was a popular peer-to-peer file-sharing platform in the 2000s, with over one-third of all computers globally having installed the program in 2007. It was primarily used for downloading and distributing pirated music, which led to its shutdown as a result of copyright infringement issues.
LimeWire is now returning as an NFT marketplace deployed on Ethereum, and its comeback has also been featured on CoinTelegraph. The platform caters to the art and entertainment space, initially focused on music. Artists will earn the largest portion of income and maintain full autonomy, ownership, and authority over their creations. Moreover, LimeWire will provide the option for direct credit card transactions, removing the necessity for crypto wallets.

Airdrop Review
