Soneium Score guide and native token airdrop status
Contents

Is there a Soneium token or airdrop?

Soneium does not have an announced native token or confirmed native-token airdrop. Soneium's current developer FAQ says there are no plans for a native token and identifies ETH as the network's gas asset. This directly supersedes the 2024 speculation in the original article.

Soneium mainnet launched on 14 January 2025. Its Minato testnet and the Layer3 CUBE quests described below are historical onboarding activities, not an unclaimed Soneium token allocation. No official announcement says that Minato activity will be converted into a future Soneium token.

The official Soneium Portal currently describes a season as “now playing.” The latest dated season post available during this review was Season 12, published on 1 July 2026. The portal's season number and requirements can change, so check the logged-in interface instead of assuming Season 12 tasks remain current.

What is Soneium Score?

Soneium Score is a recurring proof-of-contribution programme launched in August 2025. It is explicitly described by Soneium as a continuous engagement system rather than a one-time airdrop. Seasons generally run for 28 days, reset scores and feature different ecosystem projects.

The published scoring model has four components:

  • Activity Score: transactions, unique active days and activity streaks;
  • Liquidity Score: eligible liquidity supplied to integrated protocols;
  • NFT Score: qualifying Sony and Soneium ecosystem NFT holdings; and
  • Bonus Score: interactions with the season's featured projects.

The standard threshold stated in the programme announcement and Season 12 post is 80 out of 100 points. Qualifying users can mint that season's non-transferable Soneium Score badge. Individual ecosystem projects may offer separate prize pools or perks, but those are governed by their own rules and must not be confused with an SBS Labs token distribution.

How to participate in Soneium Score safely

  1. Open portal.soneium.org from Soneium's verified website and connect an EVM-compatible wallet.
  2. Read the current season dates, scoring categories, featured projects and terms. Scores reset each season.
  3. Add Soneium mainnet using verified network settings. The chain ID is 1868, the currency symbol is ETH and the official public RPC is https://rpc.soneium.org/.
  4. If ETH is required, enter the canonical bridge through Soneium's bridge page. Bridge only an amount you can afford to expose to L2 and bridge risk.
  5. Review which ordinary onchain actions count. Do not generate uneconomic transactions solely to chase points.
  6. Treat liquidity tasks separately from low-risk activity. Check the protocol, token pair, lock or withdrawal conditions, fees, slippage and smart-contract risk first.
  7. Verify NFT collections and bonus-project domains in the live portal. A similarly named collection does not count merely because it is on Soneium.
  8. When the season ends, check the portal for the badge-mint window. Do not use a claim link sent through replies or direct messages.

Season 12 used a two-stage badge claim: scores from 84 to 100 received the first two-week window, followed by scores from 80 to 83. Later seasons may use different timing. The badge is a soulbound token tied to the participating wallet; it is not transferable and should not be valued as though it were a liquid token.

What is Soneium?

Soneium is a general-purpose Ethereum Layer 2 developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint venture founded by Sony Group Corporation and Startale. It uses the OP Stack and participates in the Optimism Superchain. The network focuses on creator, entertainment, gaming and consumer applications while remaining open to general EVM development.

The mainnet launch followed a Minato testnet that Soneium said processed 47 million transactions across more than 14 million active wallets. Those testnet figures demonstrate participation, but they are not token eligibility criteria.

Other Soneium campaigns are not a Soneium token

Soneium has hosted or supported multiple campaigns with different reward types:

  • Soneium Conquest: a 2025 Galxe onboarding campaign;
  • Astar Contribution Score: an Astar Foundation campaign that allocated 100 million existing ASTR tokens and ran from 20 February to 30 May 2025;
  • Soneium Score: recurring SBS Labs seasons that award SBT badges and may feature project-specific perks;
  • Spotlight: a one-month, multi-project Galxe campaign announced in May 2026 with up to $10,000 in rewards; and
  • project campaigns: separate NFT, game, DeFi or prize activities run by ecosystem teams.

ASTR, project tokens, NFTs, prizes and Score badges do not establish the existence of a “SONEIUM” token. Verify who funds and administers each reward before participating.

Soneium Score and campaign risks

  • No native-token promise: official documentation currently says no native token is planned.
  • Gas-cost risk: transaction fees and bridge costs can exceed any badge or project reward.
  • DeFi risk: liquidity scoring can expose funds to exploits, liquidation, impermanent loss, depegs and slippage.
  • Third-party risk: featured projects and external campaign platforms have their own contracts, policies and security assumptions.
  • Approval risk: inspect token approvals and revoke permissions that are no longer needed.
  • Phishing: scammers promote fake Soneium tokens and badge claims. SBS Labs will never need a seed phrase.
  • Permanent-wallet history: a soulbound badge and public activity can connect campaign participation to the same wallet indefinitely.
  • Programme changes: scoring weights, qualifying assets, featured projects, thresholds and claim windows can change between seasons.
  • Infrastructure policy: Soneium has documented restrictions on some contracts associated with intellectual-property infringement, which can affect access through official infrastructure.

Original September 2024 Soneium guide (archived)

The following author-written copy is preserved for historical context. Soneium has since launched mainnet, and its current documentation says no native token is planned. The imported Layer3 link has been repaired, while referral and obsolete testnet links have been deactivated. Do not use these Minato tasks as current airdrop instructions.

How to get the Soneium token airdrop?

Time needed: 1 hour. Here’s how the original article described the potential Soneium token airdrop.
  1. Sign in to Soneium Layer 3 quest page Go to the historical Layer3 Soneium Minato testnet quest and sign in with your wallet. Sign the transaction.
  2. Get Sepolia ETH As Soneium is on testnet stage, you will need to get some testnet ETH. You can get testnet Sepolia ETH from Infura, Alchemy, or QuickNode.
  3. Bridge to Soneium Testnet Bridge from Ethereum Sepolia to Soneium Testnet by connecting your wallet to the historical Soneium Minato bridge. Make sure you are on the Sepolia testnet network. Select the amount of testnet ETH you want to bridge and click “Review deposit”. Then review the transaction and click “Initiate deposit”. Confirm the transaction on your wallet as well. Note that the transaction may take several minutes to process. Return to the Layer 3 quest page and click “Verify” to verify the task has been completed.
  4. Join Soneium Discord Click “Open Discord” and follow the steps to join the Soneium Discord. Once joined, make sure you click “Verify”.
  5. Claim rewards Click “Switch to OP mainnet” and confirm you will switch to Optimism network on your wallet. Click “Mint CUBE to claim”.
  6. Refer friends Copy your referral link to refer your friends for rewards.
  7. Trending Now: Soneium Complete the quest by reading the information. As well as reading their Blog and Sony’s press release. Claim your reward by switching to OP mainnet and clicking “Mint CUBE to claim”.
  8. Trending Now: Swap on Soneium Minato To complete this quest, bridge to Soneium Testnet and then swap any amount of ETH via Very Long Swap on the Soneium Minato Testnet. Finally, claim your rewards.
