CZ Donated About $955,000 to Giggle Academy. Here Is What Was Actually in His Wallet

Bottom line: Changpeng "CZ" Zhao transferred 1,435.828558 BNB and 182,624.339621 币安人生 tokens from his public BNB Chain wallet to the same Gnosis Safe on August 16, 2026. BscScan valued the two transfers at about $955,446 at the time. The move funded Giggle Academy and retired a wallet that had become a magnet for unsolicited meme coins. It did not reveal or donate CZ's complete crypto portfolio.

The headline circulating on X said CZ “will donate” the BNB and 币安人生 in his wallet to Giggle Academy before abandoning the address.

The blockchain shows that he had already done it.

At 14:18 UTC, the wallet sent its 币安人生 balance to a Gnosis Safe. Forty-nine seconds later, it sent almost all of its BNB to the same destination. Cointelegraph’s post appeared at 15:00 UTC, about 41 minutes after the second transfer settled.

This matters because the announcement is no longer only a promise. Both transactions are public, successful and independently checkable.

How much did CZ donate?

The two transfers were:

The BNB transaction and 币安人生 token transaction both went from CZ’s labelled public address, 0x28816c4C4792467390C90e5B426F198570E29307, to 0xC7f501D25Ea088aeFCa8B4b3ebD936aAe12bF4A4.

The recipient is a Gnosis Safe contract. Its on-chain SafeReceived event confirms that it is a multisignature-style treasury rather than an ordinary personal wallet. The timing, common destination and CZ’s stated donation identify it as the receiving treasury, although BscScan had not added a public Giggle Academy label when we checked.

Some social reports rounded the package to $965,000, using values of roughly $872,000 for the BNB and $93,000 for 币安人生. Crypto prices move every second, so a later snapshot will not match the explorer’s transfer-time estimate. The quantities on-chain do not change. For that reason, about $955,000 at transfer time is the cleanest figure.

There is another wrinkle. The BNB portion was immediately useful and liquid. The 币安人生 portion was worth an estimated $89,182, but it remained a volatile meme token after arriving. Giggle Academy does not have $89,182 in cash unless the treasury converts it, and the realized value could be higher or lower depending on price and market depth.

What is 币安人生?

币安人生 translates roughly as “Binance Life.” It is a community meme token on BNB Chain, with the contract address 0x924fa68a0FC644485b8df8AbfA0A41C2e7744444.

It is not an official Giggle Academy token. It is also separate from GIGGLE, another community token that has routed trading fees to the education project.

That distinction is easy to lose in a fast-moving headline. CZ donated a meme-token balance that people had sent to his public wallet. He did not announce a new Giggle Academy coin, a token sale or a partnership with the 币安人生 project.

How many coins were in CZ’s wallet?

There is no honest single number for “CZ’s wallets.” Public explorers can show balances at known addresses, but they cannot reveal every private address, custodial account or economic interest owned by a person.

The wallet in this story is much narrower. CZ described it on August 2 as a wallet used to make a public video tutorial. BscScan labels it “Changpeng Zhao,” and the outgoing donation transactions were signed by that address.

Immediately before the donation, the two meaningful balances were about 1,435.83 BNB and 182,624.34 币安人生. The address also contained a long tail of unsolicited assets. BscScan listed more than 100 BEP-20 token contracts on BNB Chain and detected activity for the same address across 30 EVM networks.

That does not mean CZ deliberately bought more than 100 different coins. Anyone can send a token to a public address. Meme developers often send tokens to prominent wallets in the hope that a transfer, sale or burn will be mistaken for an endorsement.

The wallet was not literally empty when checked on August 17. It held about 3.34 BNB and still displayed more than 100 tokens. New dust and token transfers continued to arrive after the donation. This is why “abandoning” the wallet is more realistic than trying to clean it perfectly. A public address cannot stop strangers from sending assets to it.

BscScan also displayed a multichain portfolio value above $1.6 million for the address when we checked it. That figure should not be treated as CZ’s spendable wealth. Explorer valuations can be distorted by unsolicited tokens, thin liquidity and prices that cannot support a large sale. The exact outgoing transfers are strong evidence. The displayed value of every token dropped into the address is not.

Does CZ own far more crypto than this?

Almost certainly, but the public evidence comes in different forms and should not be blended into one fake-precise wallet total.

In February 2025, CZ disclosed the composition of a portfolio on Binance Square. It was 98.48% BNB, 1.32% Bitcoin, 0.17% EURI and 0.03% USDT. He showed percentages, not the number of coins.

Separately, Forbes estimated in June 2024 that 94 million BNB could be attributed to CZ through his ownership of Binance and the allocation of founding-team and unsold ICO tokens. That was an investigative ownership estimate, not a list of 94 million BNB sitting in wallets publicly controlled by CZ. It is also more than two years older than this donation.

If the Forbes estimate still reflected his economic position, the 1,435.83 BNB donation would equal roughly 0.0015% of it. That comparison is useful only for scale. It does not prove what CZ owns today or where any larger position is held.

The defensible answer is therefore:

• this public wallet donated two valuable assets worth about $955,000;
• it still contains more than 100 token entries, many of which appear unsolicited, and a small BNB balance;
• CZ has disclosed a personal portfolio dominated by four assets, led overwhelmingly by BNB; and
• no public source provides a complete, current count of every coin across all wallets and custodial accounts he controls.

Why did he retire the wallet?

The immediate reason was not tax planning or a market call. It was the attention economy around celebrity wallets.

Every token sent to a known CZ address creates a dilemma. Ignoring it lets the project advertise that CZ “holds” the token. Selling it can crash a thin market. Burning it can trigger the opposite interpretation, as traders treat the cleanup transaction as proof that CZ noticed the project.

That happened in July when CZ burned hundreds of millions of unsolicited meme tokens. One token’s market value surged after the burn drew attention, even though his stated point was that projects should send tokens directly to a dead address instead. Coverage of that cleanup described years of projects using his wallet as free marketing.

Cointelegraph summarized CZ’s new position plainly: random meme coins kept arriving, and attempts to burn them produced more over-interpretation. Moving the useful assets out and refusing to use the wallet again breaks that loop. Future deposits can still appear on-chain, but they no longer have a credible claim to his attention.

Why Giggle Academy?

Giggle Academy is CZ’s free online learning project for children. Its official description says the platform uses technology and games to provide free educational content worldwide. Its current product includes phonics, vocabulary, storybooks and early-learning material, with plans to expand into more subjects and languages.

The education focus predates this wallet cleanup. In Giggle Academy’s original concept paper, CZ wrote that basic education would remain free and that he was willing to fund the program as much as needed if it proved effective. He called education one of the most impactful ways to spend money.

In a later interview, CZ described money as a tool for doing meaningful work and said education was his main social cause. He also said Giggle Academy had received roughly $11 million from community token activity, while stressing that the money belonged to the educational platform rather than to him personally.

The August 16 transfer fits that pattern. The BNB gives the academy a liquid treasury asset. The 币安人生 transfer turns a meme-token balance that CZ did not want to manage into potential funding for the education project. Retiring the source wallet also reduces the chance that the next unsolicited token becomes a new trading signal attached to his name.

What the donation does not prove

The transaction proves that assets moved. It does not prove how Giggle Academy will spend them, when it will convert the meme token or what value the token will realize.

The recipient Safe already held a much larger BNB balance before CZ’s transfer. Donors and readers should follow future outgoing transactions and the academy’s own reporting if they want to know how the treasury becomes curriculum, staff costs or distribution.

The donation also does not endorse 币安人生. A token appearing in a famous person’s wallet can be unsolicited. A token leaving that wallet for charity is not the same as a purchase, partnership or recommendation.

What can be said is concrete: CZ moved about $955,000 at transfer-time prices into the education treasury, left only a small native balance behind, and publicly retired the address that had become an unreliable signal factory for meme traders.
