The GameFi revolution is set to be the next big wave of innovation for blockchain technology. It’s a new way to combine game design with decentralized finance, and helps players warm up while they engage with their favorite games.
One of the projects looking to tap into this new way to make games is MetaGods. An ambitious project entering the GameFi space that’s gearing up for its launch. It’s also the first project that has partnered with MetaWars as they transform into the first GameFi launchpad in the world of blockchain.
Check out the trailer for MetaGods:
The MetaGods Project
MetaGods the first action RPG built as a GameFi platform. The game uses mythological deities and borrows from Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology to create its setting. It uses a retro style, as all the characters and world are represented by pixels and 8-bit graphics to complete the feeling of retro gaming.
As an action RPG, the game is built for fast-paced gameplay and challenging set pieces. The game is built around the path towards the godhood of the playable character. In the game, playable characters are created by combining the bloodlines of mortals with gods, or gods with other gods.
The different combinations of deities and mortals create unique characters that have different stats and bonuses. These then progress over the course of the different game challenges and accumulate more power and gear that directly ties with the play-to-earn aspects of the game.
The world of MetaGods is one that will be lore rich. The game will support progression via PvE challenges, but it will also support game events, raids, and PvP arenas. Each will tie to the blockchain aspects of the game.
MetaGods NFTs and Tokenomics
MetaGods uses a dual token system. These tokens are named $GOD and $RELIC, each will anchor a different part of the game’s economy. The first, $GOD token, will be used to access the special features of the game such as raids, and in-game events. Additionally, it’ll be possible to stake the tokens to gain higher returns over time.
The $RELIC token is there to support the in-game trading economy. It’ll be used to buy in-game items that the different characters will need for their journey. It’ll also be an earnable token that players can accumulate by playing the game.
The game uses NFTs to represent the player’s avatar. Player characters can be minted by combining mortals with gods, or to generate the most powerful stats, mix a god with another god. Each of the minted characters is backed as an NFT and can be traded over the blockchain.
The game supports two-player modes casual and hardcore. The first mode is there for players who just want to pass the time and engage with the game’s mechanics in a leisurely way. The second, introduces the first-ever permadeath system supported by NFTs.
Players who enter the game in the hardcore mode, risk losing their player NFT character. Yet, in this mode, players can win legendary gear and items, which are also tradable over the blockchain. This new game mechanic adds a layer of risk, where players are able to win the best rewards by risking their top playable characters.
MetaGods is progression rapidly, and it has already published the project’s roadmap:
MetaGods the First Project to use the MetaWars GameFi Launchpad
MetaWars is a project we have covered before. After a successful ICO, MetaWars decided to become the first GameFi launchpad in the industry. By doing so, they are able to guide new projects helping them with all the knowledge they accumulated during their own development.
MetaGods is the first project to come aboard the MetaWars launchpad. The project is finalizing the last details before starting its whitelist campaign. It’s a truly exciting announcement, as the GameFi industry is very new, but it already is showing meaningful innovation.
MetaGods is a play-to-earn game where players battle alongside each other in a quest to attain godhood. Each god is represented by a set of stats backed by an NFT where gods can be created with the union of gods with mortals, and gods with other gods.
The game works with a dual token system. The $MGOD and $RELIC are the two tokens of the platform. $MGOD is used as the governance token of the project and can be used to enter special events. $RELIC is an earnable in-game currency that supports the play-to-earn structure of MetaGods.
